“After rain there’s a rainbow, after a storm there’s calm, after the night there’s a morning, and after an end there’s a new beginning.”

The journey into law…

Whilst completing her studies in law and psychology, Sophia recognised that her passion lay where these two fields met. Sophia then set out to complete mediation training to become more equipped and skilled in alternative dispute resolution.

Sophia initially joined the Unified Lawyers Family Law team as a Family Law Graduate/Paralegal whilst completing her university studies. Through assisting our experienced family lawyers Sophia gained invaluable experience across all types of family matters and ignited her passion in family law.

Since joining the Unified Lawyers team, Sophia has become skilled and experienced across all types of family law matters, including assisting on complex international parenting matters and large property matters with complex company and trust structures.

Experience in family law

Sophia has experience working on a wide array of family law matters including divorce applications, parenting disputes, property settlements, complex litigated parenting and property matters, mediated matters, and care and protection of children matters.

Sophia has a significant understanding of the benefits and processes used in mediation and is able to proficiently explain and support clients through such a process. Sophia believes that mediation is a communicative space that allows clients to improve their communication and autonomously set up new relationship dynamics for the future whilst negotiating appropriate settlement arrangements.

Other areas of expertise

Sophia is a strong advocate of dispute resolution processes in resolving disputes, particularly the utilisation of mediation in family law matters. In 2021, Sophia completed mediator training with the Australian Dispute Centre.

The passion for family law

Our care for clients

Sophia has an empathetic but pragmatic approach with a passion for understanding people so to better serve their needs in the bigger picture of life and family dynamics.

Coming from a large family, Sophia recognises that communication is key to all relationships and that often, when you are able to work through the difficult times; things will get better. Sophia strives to have open and prompt communications with clients, easing any queries they may have during an often-daunting process.

Sophia recognises that family breakdowns is a stressful time for clients, both emotionally and financially. As such, she considers matters with a client-focused approach, undertaking all avenues to resolve the matter in a cost and time effective manner, without progressing to Court litigation.

Nonetheless, Sophia understands that in some matters resolution can only come through initiating proceedings in the Federal Circuit Court or Family Court of Australia and will strongly advocate and guide her clients through that process.

Why Unified?

Sophia joined Unified Lawyers as a family law graduate as she was looking for a young, vibrant firm that had a passion for helping clients rather than being focused on the dollar signs.

Sophia soon realised that Unified Lawyers was a special place to work, where people genuinely care about the life experiences and outcomes for clients.

Passion outside of the law

Outside of law, Sophia enjoys spending time with and enjoying lots of food with her large extended family and friends, and cooking.
