The journey into law…

Leen commenced her legal career providing administrative assistance in November 2017. From there, she moved into a paralegal role in May 2019 until she was admitted in 2021.

Leen started her legal career in 2017 as a legal assistant at national law firm that specialised in commercial litigation, family law and debt recovery. In 2019, Leen worked at a Sydney Law Firm as a paralegal where she was exposed to a number of commercial litigation matters, insolvency, family law and building and construction matters. Leen then moved into a graduate position at a litigation firm in the Sydney CBD where she worked as a solicitor in general insurance claims where she managed a number of large clients recovering motor vehicle property damage from third party insurance companies.

Leen worked in commercial litigation from the commencement of her career until she moved to Unified Lawyers November 2021, where she was transitioned into family law.

In November 2021, Leen moved to Unified Lawyers and continued working in general litigation claims as well as commercial litigation and debt recovery. Leen always had a passion for family law and so from mid May 2022, Leen transitioned over to the family law team and has since been specialising in family law matters including divorce applications as well as property and parenting matters.

Experience in family law

Since transitioning into family law, Leen has gained experience preparing joint and sole divorce applications, preparing applications for consent orders for families who have already reached agreements and helping individuals come to an agreement without the need for court intervention.

Leen has also assisted in complex and litigated family law matters in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. She has knowledge in legal procedures and requirements that need to be followed, as well as an understanding of how the court system works.

Other areas of expertise

In addition to Leen’s experience in commercial litigation, she also has experience in estate planning matters including preparation of wills, power of attorney, enduring guardianships and acting for executors in deceased estate matters.

The passion for family law

Coming from a cultural background where family violence and divorce is not spoken about or voiced, Leen wanted to help those who thought they had no other option but to stay in abusive relationships, whether verbal or physical.

As someone who recognizes the impact of cultural silence and taboo surrounding family violence and divorce, Leen saw family law as a powerful opportunity to help individuals who may feel trapped in their situations.
