The journey into law…

Sophie’s primary reason for engaging with the Juris Doctor Degree was to provide pragmatic solutions for the community during vulnerable and uncertain points in their lives. Sophie has been working in the legal services field since 2018, and has exclusively worked in Family Law since 2020.

 

Experience in family law

Prior to joining Unified Lawyers, Sophie worked for a legal services company, providing paralegal assistance to global firms.

 

Sophie then began working as a family law paralegal, gaining invaluable experience working on a variety of family law matters.

 

Since her admission to the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Sophie has had carriage of a variety of complex parenting and property matters, both within the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and those attending dispute resolution conferences. Sophie has also been involved Contravention and Enforcement Applications, Appeal Applications and matters under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction.

 

Sophie has experience in drafting Consent Orders and other legal documents, assisting with Financial Agreements, lodging Divorce Applications and initiating and responding to applications filed in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of New South Wales.

 

Other areas of expertise

Sophie has practised exclusively in Family Law, as this is where her passion lies. Albeit, Sophie has studied a vast range of different legal fields, such as Criminal Law, Commercial Law, Wills and Estates, Property Law and Immigration Law.

 

The passion for family law

Sophie has always been passionate about using her studies to help individuals and families navigate the complex and often challenging realities of the separation process. Sophie’s experience and compassion has allowed her to create close relationships with clients, understanding that every family law issue is complex and presents a unique set of circumstances. For this reason, Sophie is incredibly focused on developing client relationships and will always go above and beyond to provide pragmatic solutions to unique legal issues.

Sophie understands that the breakdown of a relationship can be an extremely challenging and emotional process, and ensures that advice is provided in a clear and concise manner, with clients feeling confident, heard and supported throughout the process.
