Maryann Melhem is a family law Accredited Specialist who has practised exclusively in the field of family law since 2014. Her experience in family and divorce law covers a range from straight forward to more complex matters including but not limited to relocation of children overseas, applications under the Hague Convention for return of children from outside Australia and matters involving addiction and abuse. Other matters include high net worth pools, complex trust and commercial structures, spousal maintenance, child support and binding financial agreements.
Maryann was admitted as a solicitor in New South Wales in 2012. Prior to practising exclusively in family law she practised in various areas of law including civil and commercial litigation, bankruptcy, conveyancing, wills and estates, criminal law, family law and general litigation. The exposure to these various areas of law has given Maryann a solid foundation in her practice in family law as she is able to take a holistic approach in helping clients realistically achieve their desired outcome.
In 2019, whilst working for a specialist family law firm, Maryann successfully completed and attained Specialist Accreditation in the field of family law.
Specialist Accreditation is a structured peer to peer assessment process enabling legal practitioners to be recognised for their expertise. To be accredited, specialists must pass a series of meticulous assessments on both legal knowledge and its application in practice. To retain their accreditation specialists must undertake significant additional professional development in their area of expertise each year.
Maryann goes above and beyond for all of her clients. She gives practical, realistic and accurate advice so that clients understand their options and make informed decisions about their matter. She is approachable and empathetic towards her clients. Her advice and approach help her clients get through and move on from what is one of the most difficult times in their life.
Maryann is a member of the Family Law Section and is subscribed to various legal journals, ensuring she is constantly up to date with changes in family law and other fields which may directly or indirectly affect family law.
When not at work, Maryann enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys attending the gym and exploring various coastal walks around Sydney.
