The journey into law…

Louise Cassar has over 25 years’ experience in law and has specialised in family law for the last 7 years.

In the early part of her career, Louise worked in commercial dispute resolution and civil litigation, in the areas of Professional Indemnity and Public Liability in leading commercial law firms in Australia.

Louise also worked for a leading commercial law firm in Hong Kong, in insolvency litigation.

Louise has worked in-house managing the public liability run-off claims for HIH Casualty and General Insurance Limited (In Liquidation & Subject to Schemes of Arrangement).

For the past 9 years and before joining Unified Lawyers Louise worked in a number of boutique and medium sized firms in the city, Northern Beaches and Chatswood, where she practised predominantly in the area of family law.

As a social advocate, Louise has collaborated with the University of Notre Dame Australia Law School, Sydney, to draft a comprehensive submission to the NSW Government to establish a domestic violence intervention programme, which proposed a therapeutic and preventative approach for dealing with domestic and family violence cases.

Louise was an inaugural committee member of the Community of Calm – Arts for Wellness Project, Northern Beaches 2019, which in association with the Big Anxiety Festival, UNSW and Black Dog Institute developed a programme with health professionals on the Northern Beaches. The programme received an Australia Day Award from the Northern Beaches Council.

Experience in family law

Louise Cassar brings a high level of experience to her practice of family law, through her knowledge, study and practice of commercial law, her work as a solicitor advocate and as a mother of two (now adult) children.

In practice, Louise applies her own lived experiences to working with her clients to assist them to navigate the family law system and to help them achieve resolution.

As a Family Law practitioner, Louise is often introduced to client’s at one of the most emotional periods of their life. Other areas of expertise

Louise has experience in commercial and insurance litigation, professional indemnity and personal injury, and insolvency law.

The passion for family law

Louise is passionate about the law and says that whilst it sounds ‘schmaltzy’, as a family lawyer Louise has a genuine desire to help families at difficult and emotional time in their lives.

Our care for clients

As a lawyer, Louise doesn’t just tick the boxes, but is a problem solver. Every matter is different and as such Louise like’s to work with her client’s to assist them to resolve their matter and reach an early resolution.
Louise has proven to be a dedicated, committed and after 25 years in the law, experienced lawyer.

Why Unified?

Louise Cassar joined Unified Lawyers because like its name the firm offered a unified experience for the client and the family lawyer to work together to achieve a resolution.

Passion outside of the law

Outside of work Louise Cassar is a member of the Art Gallery of NSW and enjoys attending Art Exhibitions and visiting the Gallery Shops, International Travel, Theatre, Fine Dining, and long walks (to burn off the Fine Dining!)
