How is domestic violence different from family violence?

Domestic violence and family violence are often seen as having this interchangeable function, though they are quite different.

Domestic abuse is any abuse that comes amongst people in domestic relations; for example, partners, spouses, and so on.

Family violence is a more general term that includes domestic violence and, in addition, any violence between family members, based on parents, children or siblings.
