What the Rockhampton registry handles, and who to email
The Court splits registry contact by task:
- General enquiries about filing, procedure, forms or Portal support: the enquiries hub.
- Filing by email, only for documents that can’t be eFiled: [email protected].
- Producing subpoenaed documents, electronically where possible: [email protected].
- Registry enquiries: [email protected]. This inbox covers lost property, lawyer codes, case file information, conciliation conference documents, and follow-ups on consent orders and urgent applications.
- Divorce hearings, to attend by telephone or adjourn: [email protected].
- Court Children’s Service appointments: the two CCS addresses on the Court’s Rockhampton page.
Rockhampton publishes no online booking link for subpoena viewing. To inspect subpoenaed material or view a file, email the registry inbox and ask about availability, after confirming on the Commonwealth Courts Portal that leave has been granted.
Facilities at the Commonwealth Law Courts
Almost everything a visitor needs is on the East Street side: the main entrance, which is also the wheelchair-accessible entry, plus disabled parking and the taxi rank. The Court lists free two-hour parking at the front of the building, with public parking in Bolsover Street.
Bathrooms, including accessible facilities, are on the ground floor. Hearing loops can be set up if you give the registry notice. The page doesn’t list a Justice of the Peace or public photocopier, so arrange witnessing and copies beforehand. Need a transcript? See the Court’s transcript services page.
Free legal help
The Court’s Rockhampton page doesn’t name a duty lawyer service, but Legal Aid Queensland does. Its family law duty lawyer visits Rockhampton when the Court is sitting; the Rockhampton service number is (07) 4921 6500. The duty lawyer is for people representing themselves who haven’t had legal advice. Arrive early on the day with all your court documents.
Legal Aid Queensland also lists Rockhampton as one of four Queensland sites for the Family Advocacy and Support Service (Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm) for people affected by family violence. Its Rockhampton office is on the ground floor at 35 Fitzroy Street; the statewide information line is 1300 65 11 88.
For mediation rather than legal advice, the Family Relationships Online directory lists the CentacareCQ Family Relationship Centre at 10 Bolsover Street, phone 1300 783 544.
If you have safety concerns
If you’re afraid of seeing the other party at the Commonwealth Law Courts, the Court wants to know before your court date, not on it. Use the family law enquiry form and choose “Safety at court”. The Court’s Safety at court page lists possible measures, such as a safe room or attending by phone or video.
If you’re in danger now, call 000. For support at any hour, 1800RESPECT is on 1800 737 732 and DVConnect Womensline is on 1800 811 811. DVConnect Mensline (1800 600 636) is open 9am to midnight, seven days a week.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I arrange to view a subpoena or court file in Rockhampton?
Email [email protected] and ask whether the file is available; Rockhampton doesn’t publish an online booking link. Before asking to inspect subpoenaed documents, check on the Commonwealth Courts Portal that leave has been granted. Documents you’ve been subpoenaed to produce go to [email protected] instead.
What is the Rockhampton registry’s after-hours number for?
Urgent family law matters only. Outside opening hours, 1300 352 000 is limited to two situations: a real risk that a child will be removed from Australia before the next working day, or a lawyer reporting a risk that assets will be removed or dissipated before then.
Is childcare available at the Commonwealth Law Courts in Rockhampton?
No. The Court’s Rockhampton page states that no childcare is available for children attending appointments with a Court Child Expert. Questions about childcare around a Final Hearing Report appointment go to the Court Children’s Service at [email protected], which also handles appointment confirmations.
