What is a Court Mention?
When a matter is listed in a Court or Tribunal before a Registrar, Assessor, Tribunal Member, Magistrate, Judicial Registrar or Judge, this is known as a Court Mention.

Who is required to attend a Mention?
Generally, all the parties to the proceedings are required to attend the Court Mention in person (if not legally represented) or otherwise the parties’ legal representative or their agent must appear.
There may be severe consequences if a party fails to appear at the Court or Tribunal Mention.
What is the purpose of a Mention?
Mentions are held by the Court and Tribunal to assist the parties with managing, resolving or proceeding to hearing. The aim is to achieve the just, quick and cheap resolution of the real issues in the proceedings.
