The journey into law…
Veronica began her journey in law in January 2022 when she commenced working as a Paralegal at Benjamin and Khoury Solicitors and Attorneys. This was her first exposure to the legal profession, where she assisted with legal administration, drafted legal documents, filed court materials, and supported solicitors with active legal matters. The role allowed her to develop a strong understanding of legal procedures and client communication.
She further expanded her legal experience when she joined ATW Family Law as a Law Clerk and Paralegal from October 2024 to October 2025, gaining direct exposure to family law matters. In this role, she conducted legal research, drafted and engrossed correspondence, prepared court documents and briefs, liaised with clients, and attended court proceedings. This experience strengthened her confidence, professionalism, and ability to work in fast-paced legal environments.
These experiences, combined with her ongoing legal education, have provided her with both strong theoretical knowledge and practical foundations in law.
The passion for family law
Veronica became passionate about family and property law because of the direct impact it has on people’s lives. She understands that family law matters often involve significant emotional, financial, and personal challenges, and finds it deeply meaningful to be part of a profession that helps guide individuals through difficult transitions.
She is particularly drawn to the human aspect of family law. Supporting clients during vulnerable periods requires not only legal knowledge but also empathy, patience, and strong communication skills. She is committed to helping clients feel heard, supported, and confident throughout the legal process.
Her experience working directly with clients reinforced her desire to pursue this area of law and to contribute positively to their outcomes.
Experience in family law
Through her role at ATW Family Law as a Law Clerk and Paralegal, Veronica gained practical experience assisting with both family and property law matters. She conducted legal research on relevant legislation and case law, particularly in relation to property settlements, asset division, and procedural requirements. She assisted with drafting legal correspondence, preparing court documents such as applications and affidavits, and organising briefs for counsel.
In relation to property law within the family law context, she worked on matters involving the identification and review of asset pools, including real property, financial assets, and liabilities. She assisted with reviewing financial documents, organising disclosure material, and preparing files to support property settlement negotiations and court proceedings. This strengthened her understanding of the importance of accuracy, attention to detail, and proper document management in property matters.
She also liaised with clients in a professional and empathetic manner, recognising that property and family disputes can be both financially and emotionally significant. Through this experience, she developed strong knowledge of court procedures, legal documentation, and the overall process involved in family and property law matters, while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and efficiency.
