The journey into law…
As a university student, Verneet volunteered with Youth Law Australia, gaining practical experience by providing legal advice to young adults. This experience sparked a strong interest in working more closely on matters involving children and the law. Following this, she worked part-time as a paralegal at a boutique family law firm, where the role was hands-on rather than observational. Verneet contributed to a range of tasks, from drafting court documents to attending mediation sessions and preparing for hearings. Through this work, she came to understand the importance of personal attention, building client trust, and balancing legal knowledge with empathy. The experience not only developed her legal skills but also confirmed that Family Law was the right career path. After completing a law degree, Verneet continued working as a family lawyer and also gained experience in estates law.
The passion for family law
Verneet’s passion for Family Law stems from a strong desire to help people navigate some of the most challenging and emotional periods in their lives. Drawn to work that has a real human impact, Verneet values the opportunity Family Law provides to make a direct difference — whether by helping a child find stability through a custody arrangement or supporting a client through a difficult divorce with clarity and dignity.
Verneet is committed to using the law not only as a tool for resolving disputes, but also as a means to create better outcomes for families.
Experience in family law
Verneet brings a combination of practical experience, legal knowledge, and a client-focused mindset to Family Law. This foundation was established through work at a boutique family law firm, where she was involved in a broad range of matters including parenting disputes, financial settlements, domestic violence cases, and consent orders. Verneet has had direct involvement in mediations, interim hearings, and complex final hearings, across both parenting and financial matters.
Beyond procedural expertise, she understands the importance of empathy, clear communication, and sensitivity when working with clients facing separation, custody issues, or family conflict. Strong time management and organisational skills have also been a key part of her approach, particularly in managing high-pressure, time-sensitive matters effectively.
Other areas of expertise
Verneet has also worked as a Wills and Estates lawyer, gaining experience in estate planning, probates, letters of administration, estate administration, and contested estates.
Our care for clients
Clients choose to work with Verneet because she combines a strong understanding of Family Law with an empathetic, solution-focused approach. Aware that every family law matter is deeply personal and often emotionally charged, Verneet prioritises careful listening, clear communication, and guiding clients with compassion and respect.
She is committed to achieving outcomes that support her clients’ long-term well-being, particularly in matters involving children or complex family dynamics. Verneet remains highly organised and proactive, ensuring clients are informed at every stage and that their voices are heard throughout the legal process. Her goal is not only to resolve the legal issues at hand but also to ensure that clients feel supported and understood from beginning to end.
Why Unified?
Verneet decided to join the Unified Family team because of the collaborative environment the firm fosters. Working alongside specialists in areas such as child welfare, property settlements, and financial disputes allows her to develop a more holistic and well-rounded legal approach.
Most importantly, joining a well-established family law firm means becoming part of a team known for its strong reputation in both legal excellence and client care, values that Verneet takes seriously and is committed to upholding in her own practice.
Passion outside of the law
Outside of the law, Verneet is passionate about spending quality time with family and friends. These personal connections serve as a reminder of the importance of the work done in Family Law, work that centres on real people, meaningful relationships, and the value of stability and connection.
Verneet is also an avid reader of novels, enjoys watching films, and loves spending time at the beach on warm, sunny days.
