The journey into law…

Maneesha’s story in law begins quite early, though she didn’t know it then. As a child, she was always drawn to legal dramas and courtroom movies. While most kids her age were watching cartoons, she was fascinated by the intensity, the arguments, and the idea of standing up for what’s right. The shows and movies made the legal world seem like a powerful space where one could bring real change.

Coming from a family of doctors, she was raised with a strong sense of service. Both of her parents have spent their careers healing and helping others, and that spirit of giving back has always been a core part of her upbringing. But she knew early on that medicine wasn’t her path. She wanted to serve society in a different way, by being a voice for people, by understanding the system, and using it to create impact.

The passion for family law

What drew Maneesha to Family Law was the realisation that this area of law is not just about statutes and procedures; it’s about people. It’s deeply service-oriented and requires not just legal knowledge, but a high level of emotional intelligence. That combination is what makes it so meaningful to her. To be an effective family lawyer, you need more than just a solid grasp of the law; you need patience, empathy, and the ability to guide clients through situations that are as personal as they are legal. That human aspect is what makes the work fulfilling for her.

Growing up around parents who both worked in medicine and devoted their lives to helping people, she’s always been inspired by the idea of service. While her path wasn’t medicine, she found that same spirit of service in Family Law. Being able to support people through critical life transitions, helping them make informed decisions, and ultimately guiding them toward resolution; that’s where her passion truly lies.

Experience in family law

Her experience in Family Law has centred around a strategic, client-focused approach, where she prioritises early dispute resolution and long-term outcomes over short-term wins. Through her academic background and practical exposure, she developed a strong understanding of both the technical and emotional nuances involved in these areas of law. In Family Law, she’s often seen how emotions can cloud judgment, especially in matters involving divorce, child custody, or inheritance disputes. One of her key strengths has been helping clients take a step back and see the bigger picture. She strongly believes in encouraging early settlements where possible, helping clients understand that while it may feel like they’re “giving in” at first, a timely, amicable resolution often saves them from unnecessary emotional distress and expensive, prolonged litigation. It’s about preserving dignity, protecting relationships (especially where children are involved), and ensuring both parties can move forward with stability. One of the most valuable lessons she learned is that legal battles don’t just take a financial toll, they affect mental health, family bonds, and future peace. That’s why she works closely with clients not just as a legal advisor, but also as a strategist, guiding them through the law while also helping them stay grounded and focused on long-term well-being. This mindset has helped her stand out: clients often return to say they’re glad they chose the calm path over the combative one. At the end of the day, in Family Law, resolution is not just about winning, it’s about peace, clarity, and closure.

Other areas of expertise

In addition to family law, she gained valuable exposure to several other areas, including Wills & Estates, Family Provision Claims, Adoption Law, and aspects of Commercial Law such as debt recovery.

In Wills & Estates, she has been involved in the preparation and review of wills, advising on testamentary capacity, and assisting with probate processes. She understands the sensitivity involved in these matters, especially when it comes to balancing the legal with the deeply personal aspects of end-of-life planning and family dynamics.

Her experience with Family Provision Claims has given her insight into the complexities that arise when someone is left out of a will or feels inadequately provided for. These matters often intersect with Family Law and require a thoughtful, strategic approach to resolve tensions while ensuring the client’s rights are properly protected.

In Adoption Law, she had exposure to the legal procedures and documentation involved in both stepparent and relative adoptions. These cases have reinforced the importance of accuracy, compassion, and understanding of the broader welfare principles that guide family-related decisions.

On the commercial side, she handled debt recovery matters, where she assisted in drafting letters of demand, initiating recovery proceedings, and advising clients on their options at various stages. These matters sharpened her understanding of contract enforcement, negotiation strategies, and civil procedure.

Across all these areas, her core strengths remain the same: a calm, strategic approach focused on early resolution, cost-effectiveness, and client well-being, ensuring not just legal success, but practical peace of mind.

Our care for clients

Clients should choose to work with her because she brings a high level of emotional intelligence alongside a strong foundation in the law. She understands that in Family Law, it’s not just about legal outcomes, it’s about guiding people through some of the most personal and difficult moments in their lives.

She takes a client-focused approach, meaning she doesn’t just look at the case, she looks at the person behind it. She listens, adapts her strategy to suit their unique situation, and prioritises clarity, compassion, and practical solutions. Her goal is always to protect her client’s interests while helping them find the path of least conflict, both emotionally and financially.

It’s this balance of professionalism, empathy, and strategic thinking that allows her to build genuine trust with clients and deliver outcomes that serve their long-term peace of mind, not just their legal need.

Why Unified?

She decided to join the Unified Family because she sees it as an incredible opportunity to grow both professionally and personally. The team here is large, experienced, and diverse, which means there’s a wealth of knowledge, strategies, and insights that she’s eager to learn from. She’s someone who is always looking to improve and refine her approach, and being part of a collaborative environment like this gives her the chance to strengthen her legal skills, understand more effective ways to support clients, and become a more well-rounded practitioner in Family Law. What really drew her in is the firm’s reputation for combining strong legal expertise with a client-first mindset, something that aligns perfectly with her own values. She’s excited to contribute, but equally motivated to absorb, learn, and grow with the team.

Passion outside of the law

Outside of the law, she’s most passionate about spending quality time and making meaningful memories with her family. They’ve always been her grounding force, and she truly values the time they share, whether it’s something as simple as a meal together or planning a game/movie night.

She also tries to spend her free time doing things that give back to the community, whether it’s through volunteering, supporting local initiatives, or just being there for people who need a hand. That sense of service is something she’s carried with her from a young age, and it’s important to her that she stays connected to it outside her professional life. And on a more personal note, she absolutely loves catching the sunrise. There’s something incredibly peaceful and grounding about starting the day early and watching the world slowly come to life, it gives her a sense of clarity and calm that she carries throughout the day.
